Interaction between Preservice Teachers and School Social Work Interns in an Urban School SettingUniversity of Toledo

University of Michigan This study examined the results of a year of collaboration and interactions between preservice teachers and social work interns in joint seminars and field-based activities in four urban elementary schools. The program purposely structured formal and informal opportunities for meaningful partnerships between preservice teachers and social work interns to solve problems and challenges unique to urban schools. The findings revealed that overall, students found the collaboration to be a positive experience that provided a larger support system for addressing their needs.
